About the Iola Amateur Radio Club

The Iola Amateur Radio Club (IARC) was formed in November 2007 by Red Robert (AA7CP, SK) and Ralph Romig (WA0KHV, SK) as a way to gather area operators together to share ideas, operating experiences, and promote amateur (ham) radio. IARC today still holds to these original ideas and works to find new ways to serve the area and bring ham radio to more people.

The Iola Amateur Radio Club serves Iola, Kansas, Allen County, Kansas and the surrounding area. You do not need to be local to the area to become a member.

IARC is an American Radio Relay League Affiliated club. Membership in the American Radio Relay League is not required to be a club member. Several IARC members are Volunteer Examiners, capable of administering amateur radio exams.

Club members come from various backgrounds including retired military, computer specialists, engineering, as well as everyday people. Member’s interests in ham radio varies as much as backgrounds. From digital communications (both computer and voice), contesting, activating locations for Parks on the Air, to reaching out to new countries and individuals for a chat, there’s something for everyone in ham radio. Come join us and let us help you find what excites you. Or become a part of the club and share what makes ham radio special to you. You might just inspire the next, newest operator.

Membership in IARC is easy. Club dues are $20 a year. Membership dues paid in December are counted towards the next year. Dues help maintain the club repeaters as well as help with costs associated with club operations. Simply fill out the membership form and mail it, along with your dues, to the club address listed on the form. Or bring the completed form and dues to next club meeting.
