The Iola Amateur Radio Club (IARC) serves Allen County, KS and the surrounding area. It was formed in November 2007 by Red Robert (AA7CP, SK) and Ralph Romig (WA0KHV).
The club started with 12 members, and has since generated many newly licensed amateur radio operators.
We have a 2-meter repeater located at the west edge of Gas, using the callsign WI0LA/R. The output frequency of the repeater is 147.375 MHz, with positive shift and a PL tone of 179.9 Hz. If the repeater is down for any reason, we use the frequency 146.580 MHz simplex locally.
IARC works closely with Allen County Emergency Management during storm season. If spotter activation is required, net control will be established at the 911 Communications Center at 410 N. State St. Net control will assign locations to those available to assist with storm spotting. During such activations, we ask that you keep the repeater clear of traffic.
Our meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7pm in the courtroom of Iola’s City Hall, 2 W Jackson St (North side of the Iola city square). We are also registered thru the ARRL-VEC to perform testing for all classes of license, which we do after each monthly meeting. If you would like to test, please contact Jeremy, NQ0M at 620-625-0647 or send email to “testing at wi0la.org”.
IARC would like to thank Jeremy Utley (NQ0M) for donating the server space for this site.
